Instructions to speakers

Instructions to keynote speakers:

Duration: 10 minutes (maximum 12), to allow for 10 minutes of questions and discussion
Number of slides: 10-12 recommended (not more than 15)
Content: The presenters of these keynote speeches should discuss their topics with the view of contributing to the implementation of the GEOTRACES science plan in the Mediterranean. Attention should be paid to the fact that a west-east transect will be conducted that will “chart” trace element concentrations, speciation, and physical form. A historical perspective should also be presented, including past and future changes, distinguishing – where appropriate – between natural and anthropogenic change. Finally, presenters should conclude their talks by proposing a strategy in order to answer the questions they will raise during their talks.

Instructions to advocacy talk speakers:

Duration: 5 minutes (maximum 7), to allow for 10 minutes of questions and discussion
Number of slides: 3-5 recommended (not more than 7)
Content: The presenters of these advocacy talks should make their argument immediately, about how their proposition contributes to the implementation of the GEOTRACES science plan in the region. One or two key slides should be adequate to drive the point home. If there is any auxiliary information or data supporting the argument, they should not be shown and discussed during the presentation but could be available in additional slides that could be used during the question and discussion session after the presentation.
