GEOTRACES Mediterranean Planning Workshop

Travel information

Traveling to and from Nice

By aeroplane

The Nice Côte d'Azur airport (code NCE) is one of the busiest airports in France, and has daily flights to and from most airports in Europe. It is located approximately 7 km from the center of Nice.

You may use the Ligne d'Azur bus system to travel between the airport and Nice: bus 98 can drop you off at the Congrès/Promenade bus stop which is right across from the hotel (this is by far the best way to reach the hotel from the airport), while bus 99 will take you to the Nice railway station. Tickets cost € 4.

You may also use taxis which typically cost € 22-30 by day (7 am-7 pm) and € 27-32 by night (7 pm-7 am) (these prices are indicative).

By train

Numerous connections between Nice and major French and European cities are available daily, courtesy of the French National Railway Corporation (SNCF, Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français).

Staying in Nice

The local hosts of the workshop, l'Observatoire Océanologique de Villefranche sur Mer, have secured a special fee of € 120 per person per night for participants who wish to stay at the Hôtel Westminster, where the workshop will take place. This fee is contingent on a minimum number of 20 participants. If you wish to stay at the Hôtel Westminster, please contact the hotel directly (Ms Stéphanie Abadie or Ms Sylvie Mothes, at stephanie.abadie@westminster-nice.com and sylvie.mothes@westminster-nice.com respectively) with your request, and they will be happy to assist you.
